Tess & Maxim Toronto Heintzman House Wedding

In the frigid winter months of Toronto, a bitter chill and gloom engulfs most weeks – it is inevitable, and no matter how long you’ve lived in the city, how ‘local’ you’ve proven to be, the cold will still shock you. Occasionally though, a pop of sunshine seeps through the thick clouds.
There is a tree not far from my home with the most beautiful red berries which remain well into the cold months. With that – our first glimmer of inspiration. We wanted to bring life to winter, while keeping such a warm color in our concept. Together with Behind The I Do, we created a beautiful concept which, in a way, pays tribute to the beautiful small red berries that bring so much color and life to an otherwise grey winter.
Looking at these photos, there is a sense of comfort and warmth. It’s impossible to emulate the magical love that Tess and Maxim share – watching them was a reminder of the ‘couple goals’ photos one sees on those perfectly curated Pinterest boards. Tess looked absolutely stunning in her Lace gown from Cinderella bridal. She has this ability to captivate the camera, moving around as if she could somehow see herself in the view finder, perfecting her angles with a sort of effortless charm, mesmerizing the camera with the occasional whimsical glance.
The deep burgundy florals by Peridot Floral Co were such a dream, the bouquet had the perfect winter-wedding charm – engulfed in beautiful greenery and highlighted with deep navy details. Olive Paper Shop’s stationary was a wonderful edition – immaculately mirroring Stephenie’s florals. Cocoa Cakery made such a stunning cake – playing with dark colors and highlighting with beautiful pastel flowers. The table was dressed in a dark, winter Navy with blush linens to cut through the cold colors (provided by FOS rentals). Plate Occasions’ tableware added a refined elegance.
The most memorable moment was the gold light that shone into Heintzman House. The stars aligned on that cold January morning, and we had a beautiful sun glowing, seeping its golden light and dancing around the room like a thousand shimmering diamonds. The way Maxim looked at his bride added another glow that, as a photographer, I could not have anticipated. The planning had taken such effort, dedication, and time by all vendors involved, but by the day of, time stood still. And with each click of my shutter, I felt the warmth my soul was craving again that Toronto has not provided since late September.
